A story with many chapters
The first career I ever remember wanting to pursue was the Pope. Specifically, I wanted to the be the first-ever female Pope.
I wasn’t Catholic and didn’t know much about the job. All I knew was that there’d never been a female Pope and I thought it would be cool to be the first one.
Compared to that, my other career aspirations were pretty tame. By the time I graduated high school, the new dream was to become a therapist. I even went so far as to earn a BA in psychology. Despite loving the field, my budget couldn’t handle more student loan debt so I stopped at the BA…
…and quickly learned that a BA in psychology doesn’t do much for a new graduate. My first job out of college was a terrible fit for me. However, my hatred for the job turned out to be fantastic blog material and I was able to grow a healthy following.
From there, I parlayed my writing skills into a variety of jobs writing for companies ranging in size from tiny start-ups to two of the biggest companies in the world.
In between writing gigs, I also found time to have two children and write about a dozen novels—four of which are published. I delivered the manuscript for one of my novels three weeks after my daughter was born so never let it be said that I don’t take deadlines seriously.
I currently live in western Washington and serve as the editorial lead for the team that writes Salesforce’s customer stories. When I’m not busy with work or family, I’m hard at work on a new novel.
